ELIGIBILITY

• The 2020 FOMAC PHOTO CONTEST is open to amateur Photographers only.
• Photos can be taken anytime up to the date of submission but MUST be taken of or within Marie Curtis Park. Approximate boundaries of the Park: South to Lake Ontario, east to Forty Second Street, north to Lake Shore Blvd. W., west to the Mississauga boundary. Pictures can be taken from outside the park (e.g. Lake Ontario) but the subject of the photograph must be Marie Curtis Park.
• Members of the FOMAC Steering Committee, partners, judges and their families are not eligible to win.
• Photographers under 18 years of age must have their parent’s permission to enter.
• Photos created during or depicting unsafe or illegal activity, or any action harmful or potentially so to animals, plants or people will be disqualified at the sole discretion of FOMAC.

• Maximum two (2) entries per person, in JPG format, with NO watermark. Submissions can be made via www.fomac.ca or by email to fomacmail@gmail.com. If submitting via email, please use “2020 FOMAC photo contest submission” as the subject of your email.
• Photo file names should be in the form of “title_photographer name”, e.g. “morning sunrise_Jane Smith”
• There is no limit on the size of photographs; however, they must be of sufficient resolution for a printed calendar.
• Photos cannot contain identifiable people, boats or vehicles.
• Standard optimization, including removal of dust, cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, colour and contrast are permitted. Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization will be disqualified.
• FOMAC reserves the right to request RAW data and geotagging information on photos.
• Entry submissions will be accepted from July 15 through August 15, 2020.
• The photo category must be noted for each submission.
• Contest photo categories:
• Mammals
• Birds
• Plants & Fungi
• Reptiles & Amphibians
• Landscape
• Waterscape
• Junior (photos taken by children/youth under 18)
• Open
• All submissions will be eligible to win the People’s Choice Award based on on-line voting. The photograph with the most votes not already selected to win a category will win the People’s Choice Award.

• People’s Choice voting will take place August 16 through 31, 2020 at www.fomac.ca
• A judge’s panel of photographers and community members will review submissions August 16 through 31.
• Photographs will be judged on subject matter, artistic composition, technique, creativity, impact and how well they convey appreciation of the natural beauty of the park.
• Judges will judge entries at their absolute discretion and decisions are final.
• Winners to be announced September 1, 2020 and spotlighted on the FOMAC website.
• The winning photograph in each category, plus the People’s Choice winner and three (3) honourable mentions will be included in the FOMAC 2021 Calendar. The Photographer’s name and title of the photograph will be printed in the calendar and on the FOMAC website.
• Winners will receive a copy of the calendar.

• By submitting a photograph, the owner of the copyright retains the copyright but grants the Friends of Marie Curtis Park (FOMAC) world-wide, royalty-free, irrevocable, and non-exclusive right to license, use, copy, adapt, transmit, communicate, publicly display, distribute and create compilations and derivative works or merchandise from such submitted work.

I hereby grant The Friends of Marie Curtis Park (FOMAC) permission to reproduce and use, for the contest or for any other promotional purpose, the photograph or image (“the Photograph”) submitted by me in accordance with the FOMAC Amateur Photo Contest rules and I confirm that the Photograph l am submitting was taken by myself.

By submitting this form, I acknowledge and confirm that:

1. I am the creator and owner of the Photograph and have the right to grant permission to FOMAC to use the Photograph;
2. As the owner of the copyright of the Photograph, I authorize FOMAC to use the Photograph in any promotional purpose FOMAC, in its sole discretion, chooses, including, without limitation to use, reuse, publish and re-publish the Photograph in whole or in part, individually or in any and all media, including social media, and for any lawful purpose whatsoever without restriction as to alteration, and to use FOMAC’S logo in connection therewith if FOMAC so chooses;
3. I waive any right to approve how the Photograph will be used by FOMAC and release FOMAC from any liabilities, obligation or financial payment or recognition;
4. I acknowledge that FOMAC is not obligated to use the Photograph for any purpose and has no obligation to return the Photograph to me;
5. I confirm I am at least 18 years of age or I am under 18 but my parent or guardian over 18 years old grants consent. (Submission of a Photograph constitutes consent. FOMAC reserves the right to request written consent from the parent or guardian of anyone under 18 who submits a Photograph);
6. I confirm that the Photograph does not contain any identifiable individuals, vehicles or boats;
7. I confirm that the Photograph was taken in Marie Curtis Park in Long Branch, Toronto, Ontario;
8. I confirm that I have read, understood and accept the rules of the contest;
9. Submission of my Photograph constitutes acceptance of the terms above.

Personal information on the 2020 FOMAC Amateur Photo Contest entry form is collected for the administration of this photo contest and will not be shared with any other party without the Photographer’s explicit permission.
